FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND
We spent the 4th of July weekend in Salem with Cole's family. We enjoyed a nice BBQ at his Dad's house, volleyball at his Mom's and Fireworks at his sister' house. It's always fun to see my kids play so well with all the cousins, brush up on our volleyball skills, hold scared children during the fireworks show (the 'do it yourself' ones scared Dominic, but he loved the big ones), visit and eat good food!
CARSON MINERAL HOT SPRINGS RESORT
Cole and I left ALL the kids (even Tessa) with my parents for two nights and had our own getaway! We got a great recommendation from our friends Rachel and Nathan about this great spa in the Gorge. It was kinda a funky old place where we were able to soak in a old clawfoot tub that was filled with natural hot springs water (smelled like sulfur and all). I guess it has natural healing properties, but who cares about that - it was just so relaxing!! After that you get wrapped in blankets and rest until the best part- A 1 hour massage! We didn't see each other during the 2 hr spa experience , but we knew ahead of time. The spa building was really old, but the hotel was nice, new, simple and clean (the photo is of the spa building, not the real hotel). The weather was gorgeous! We had dinner at the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, WA, about 10 minutes from the spa! The view of the Columbia River was beautiful! We stopped by Multnomah Falls on the drive home too. We has such a fun and relaxing time and can't wait to do it again - we highly recommend it to anyone who lives in the area!
OUR FAMILY TIME
We had a great time just geing together as a little family doing things around our house, or taking the kids swimming at Cole's mom's pool or with my sister. We also painted outside, ran through the sprinklers, caught bees and put them in the freezer etc. . While swimming, Cole put Dominic in a life jacket, let go of him and Dom happily started kicking toward a toy fish that was in the water. Once he realized that no one was holding on to him he starting whining "My Daddy" over and over and over and over again reaching for Cole and kicking with all his might to try and get to him. He said "my daddy" almost the whole 40 minutes he was in the pool, unless someone was holding onto him. He didn't ever cry about being alone and was acutally having a fun time, but never let up with whining "My daddy." It was pretty funny!

Looks like such a great time! Just to give you more info, Ryan will be working IT in their land department (helping w/ software glitches, support, etc). But he would eventually want to promote within the dept to landman (helps with acquiring and maintaining land contracts for drilling, etc.) And they do very well. Which is easier to do when you are already in the dept.
